I’m trying to live on a regular schedule, since freelancing means being free from a time clock. It’s important to set a timetable for yourself. My day always starts with coffee and morning stretch before sitting down to schedule everything for the day to ensure productivity.

If I’m working on a specific case, I’ll be focusing on that case 100% just to see how I can achieve the best outcome before the deadline. Otherwise, I’ll be working on self-initiated projects or learning new skills to achieve an ideal skill set.

Q: What sparked the idea for the collection?

I was deeply touched by the work of Anika Yi, Katja Novitskova and Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg. I think they are exploring how technology is changing nature in their iconic visual language. I want to do the same. I feel interconnected to nature while creating the collection just by watching them in the software. It’s quite a soft, gentle mindset and I really enjoyed it.

A magical botanist.

I'm interested in the narrative of bioecology and biotechnology. I’ve been reading articles around the archaeology of the future and the imagination of the Anthropocene. I'm absorbing the knowledge like a sponge and I feel so connected to materials that engage with speculative near-futures. It feels like someone is using a portal to send me to another universe where you can see the future is already happening. My task is to visualize it.

I see this project as a starting point of a bigger research project. The diversity of life on earth is dramatically minimized because of human activities. However, in the meantime we are creating substances that never existed before including artificial glasses, gems and minerals. They will not will not rot down at all easily. There is this invisible transformation of substance and I have some radical assumptions. Will the sealife disappear and be replaced by a synthetic life form? I wonder what kind of future we are looking at and how I can respond to that.

Getting to the heart of things and forming a knowledge hierarchy always cheers me up. As the research goes deeper, I started to realize that the distinction between humans and animals, plants and bacteria is a myth. Life forms will never be the same and we are transforming together in one ecosystem.

It’s my pleasure to contribute to this project! It feels quite refreshing to see my artwork show up in the web design world in this way and I hope the users enjoy building their websites with these creations.
